About
Nisan Dikeçligil is a composer, horn player, and scholar. As a composer, her body of work spans chamber, solo, and electroacoustic compositions that explore nuanced structural and theoretical frameworks. Her works have been featured at prominent festivals and platforms across Türkiye and Europe, including the Istanbul Music Festival (at Süreyya Opera House), Sonorities (at Arter Sevgi Gönül Auditorium), Sesin Yolculuğu Festival, and the Bilgi New Music Festival—where her piece was selected for performance by the Diskant Ensemble. Her electroacoustic work Risonanze di Legno premiered in Italy within the scope of the Erasmus BIP Sonic Explorations project. In 2026, she became the first composer in the history of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) to be awarded the prestigious "Women Stars of Tomorrow" support fund.
In addition to her compositional work, she brings extensive practical insight to her music through professional performance as an orchestral hornist. Having performed with ensembles such as the Turkish National Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (TUGFO) and expanding her international orchestral experience at Musikskolan Lilla Akademien in Stockholm, she actively performs with both the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theatre Orchestra and the Istanbul Youth Orchestra. Her performance activity has taken her to the most prestigious venues of Istanbul, such as the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM), Harbiye Muhsin Ertuğrul Stage, and Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall.
She recently completed her Bachelor of Music in Composition (2022–2026) at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSFAU) Istanbul State Conservatory, studying under notable educators including Hasan Uçarsu, Ahmet Altınel, Özkan Manav, Mehmet Nemutlu, and Gökalp Kanatsız. Her formal musical education at MSFAU began at age ten, where she completed her middle and high school conservatory training in horn performance under Sertan Sancar. Throughout her development, she has also participated in international composition masterclasses and workshops with professors such as Hideki Kozakura (Nagoya University of the Arts) and Einike Leppik (Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre).
She is currently completing her double major in Music Theory under Erdem Çöloğlu and Ali Yunus Gencer.
